An introduction to sewing and fabric work for primary children, from threading a needle to finishing a small project of their own.
Sewing Classes introduce primary children to working with fabric and thread. They start with the basics — threading a needle, a running stitch, tying off — and build towards a small finished item such as a pouch or a simple decoration.
The work is slow and careful, which is the point. Children learn to measure and cut, to keep stitches even, and to keep going when a project takes more than one session to finish. Mistakes get unpicked and redone, and that is treated as normal.
It is a screen-free hour that builds patience and fine motor control, and children are genuinely pleased to have made something useful by hand. No experience is needed, and left-handed children are supported just as easily.
