Urdu Language Classes
Urdu for primary children who hear it at home but cannot yet read or write it — covering script, vocabulary and reading.
Many children in Bradford grow up hearing Urdu at home but never learn to read or write it. These classes fill that gap, teaching the script from the start and connecting it to the words children already know.
We move from letters to words to short sentences, with reading practice in every lesson. Because most children arrive with some spoken Urdu, progress in reading and writing is often quicker than parents expect.
Beyond the language itself, children keep a link to family and grandparents that spoken Urdu alone does not fully open up. The class also prepares those who later choose Urdu as a GCSE.
